This research examines Ruby Rossi’s character development in CODA (2021), focusing on her dual role as the only hearing child in a deaf family and an aspiring singer. Using M.J. Murphy’s characterization theory and Abrams’ character development framework, this qualitative study analyzes Ruby’s dialogues, actions, and key scenes to reveal her transformation. The findings show three stages: (1) internal conflict as a family interpreter, (2) identity exploration through music, and (3) resolution by balancing family and dreams. This study highlights how Ruby’s journey reflects the underrepresented struggles of CODAs, offering a new model to analyze disability narratives in movie.en_US
