    Abstract
The behavior of e-cigarette smoking has become a popular phenomenon in society, especially among women. Female e-cigarette smokers increased to 5.5 percent and men 3.1 percent in 2023. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of conformity on e-cigarette smoking behavior in women in Medan City. The type of research is a survey with a cross-sectional approach. With a sample size of 271 female e-cigarette smokers. The sampling technique used was Accidental Sampling. With a data collection method using a questionnaire that has passed the validity and reliability test. Data analysis includes univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using a simple linear regression analysis test. Conformity assessment is carried out by measuring two indicators, namely normative conformity and informative conformity. Smoking behavior assessment is carried out by measuring frequency, intensity, and duration. Variable categorization is carried out based on the number of scores from each variable indicator. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that respondents with low conformity (18.1%), moderate conformity (59.8%), high conformity (22.1%). Respondents with low e-cigarette smoking behavior (22.9%), moderate e-cigarette smoking behavior (53.5%), high e-cigarette smoking behavior (23.6%). The analysis shows a sig value of 0.000 <0.05 so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between conformity and e-cigarette smoking behavior in women in Medan City. With a correlation value (r) = 0.622, it can be concluded that the relationship between conformity and e-cigarette smoking behavior shows a strong relationship and with a positive direction, which means that the higher the conformity, the higher the e-cigarette smoking behavior. Health problems regarding e-cigarette smoking behavior are a shared responsibility. Increasing public awareness of the dangers of cigarettes is very important so that increased promotional actions and policies are needed to reduce the number of smokers, both e-cigarette smokers and conventional cigarettes in Indonesia.
