Elemen-Elemen Adat Perkawinan pada Pelaminan di Rumah Adat Puri Melayu Sri Menanti Kota Tebing Tinggi : Kajian Folklor

Abstract

This study aims to describe the elements of marriage customs in the Puri Melayu Sri Menanti traditional house in Tebing Tinggi City and their functions. This is a qualitative descriptive study. The theory used in this study is folklore theory. The research data were sourced from informants at the Puri Melayu Sri Menanti traditional house. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation and recording. The analytical approach applied in this study was interaction analysis based on interviews with informants. The results of this study indicate that (1) the research site is located in Bandar Utama sub-district, Semut Village, Tebing Tinggi City; (2) the parts of the Puri Melayu Sri Menanti traditional house are divided into three sections: the upper part/roof, the second part of the interior, and the third part (awa bola) (column). (3) The function of the traditional elements of marriage on the dais in this Malay traditional house is divided into three parts, namely the function of the ceiling of the dais, the function of the middle part of the dais and the function of the lower part of the dais (4) the overall function of the Malay dais is that it can be used as teaching material and to preserve Malay culture.
