Karakter Morfologi Keturunan F4 Hasil Persilangan Bebas Tiga Tetua Jagung (Zea Mays L.)
Morphological Characteristics of F4 Offspring from Free Crossing of Three Corn Parents (Zea mays L.).
Abstract
Corn is a food crop commodity that is often consumed by the Indonesian
people. Development of plant varieties needs to be done to produce superior
varieties. Combination of several traits is done to obtain certain content and traits
in a plant. The purpose of this study was to determine the morphological
characteristics of F4 generation corn plants which are expected to be useful as a
genetic source for the formation of a new basic population as a selection material
to form the expected variety. The research method used was a descriptive method
by observing 110 plant samples. The characters observed in this study were taken
based on IPGRI guidelines. Data analysis was used to determine heritability and
Genetic Diversity Coefficient (GDC) and Phenotype Diversity Coefficient (PDC).
The results showed that the highest GDC value was found in the parameter of the
number of seeds per ear, while the criteria were rather low, namely: weight per
ear. Low criteria are plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, male flowering
age, female flowering age, cob length and number of rows per cob. The highest
KKF value is found in the number of seeds per cob, the slightly high criteria are
found in the weight per cob and the low criteria are found in plant height, number
of leaves, male flowering age, female flowering age, cob length, number of rows
per cob. The heritability values of all observed parameters are in the moderate to
high range. In the qualitative parameter of seed color there are three colors, namely
light purple, purple, and white.
