Leafminer (Liriomyza spp.) are polyphagous pests that attack a variety
plants, making the population of this pest is hard to control in some areas. However
the information about leafminer’s spesies that attack on Karo Regency and the level
of the parasitization is very minimum. This research is aimed to find out about that
information on tomato and potato plants. This research was conducted from
September to December 2024 in Berastagi District, Simpang Empat District, and
Merdeka District at an altitude of 1200-1500 masl. This research using purposive
sampling methods on three fields in each commodities. Each field samples were
taken of leaves attacked by Liriomyza spp. which is total 100 samples using
diagonal sampling methods, the samples maintained at Plant Pests and Disease
Laboratory of IP2SIP Berastagi using plastic containers. Next, the adult of
Liriomyza spp. and its parasitoids that emerged were identified by their
morphological characters at Plant Pathology Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture,
University of Sumatera Utara. The results based on morphological characters
showed that there were three species of Liriomyza spp. associated with tomato,
namely L. sativae (167) , L. huidobrensis (15), dan L. bryoniae (6). On potato plants
L. huidobrensis (63) and L. sativae (63). Parasitoids associated with Liriomyza spp.
on tomato plants are Hemiptarsenus (34), Neochrysocharis (5), dan Opius (1) and
Opius (4) on potato plants.
