Pengaruh Goal Orientation dan Perceived Social Support terhadap Motivasi Akademik pada Mahasiswa Suku Batak
The Influence of Goal Orientation and Perceived Social Support on the Academic Motivation of Batak University Students
Abstract
This study aims to examine the influence of goal orientation and perceived social
support on academic motivation among Batak students. The research employed a
quantitative correlational method with data collected using Likert-type scales,
including the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS)-Bahasa Indonesia consisting of
29 items, the Achievement Goal Orientation–Revised with 12 items, and the
Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support comprising 12 items. The
respondents were 1,133 active university students of Batak ethnicity, selected using
accidental sampling. The collected data were analyzed using parametric statistical
techniques, specifically multiple regression analysis. The results of the study
showed that, simultaneously, both independent variables, goal orientation and
perceived social support, had a significant role towards academic motivation,
among Batak students (r = 0,295 p < 0,001) Based on the t-test results, the goal
orientation variable had a t-value of 22,3 (p < .001), and the perceived social
support variable had a t-value of 7.6 (p < .001), indicating that both variables
significantly contributed to academic motivation.
