The coordinative role of Department of Women Empowerment, Child
Protection, Community Empowerment, Population Control, and Family Planning
(DP3APMP2KB) Kota Medan is highly important. The coordination carried out by
DP3APMP2KB with various parties such as the police, hospitals, UPTD PPA,
P2TP2A, and psychological and legal assistance institutions is the key to efforts in
tackling child abuse. Through a systematic cross-sector coordination mechanism,
DP3APMP2KB strives to ensure that case handling is conducted quickly, integrated,
and responsive to the needs of victims.
The research method used in this study is qualitative descriptive research,
with data collection techniques including direct observation, in-depth interviews,
literature studies, and detailed document analysis. This research was conducted at
the DP3APMP2KB office in Medan City. The research informants consisted of the
Head of UPTD PPA DP3APMP2KB Kota Medan, the Division of Women's Rights
and Child Protection Kota Medan, Banit PPA Polrestabes Kota Medan, PPA Task
Force DP3APMP2KB Kota Medan, and the community.
The results show that coordination between DP3APMP2KB and the police in
tackling child abuse has been running quite well, especially in terms of unity of
action, division of labor, and discipline. However, the communication indicator is not
yet optimal due to barriers in information delivery and the lack of regular
communication forums between institutions. Therefore, improvements in
communication are needed to make coordination more effective in protecting
children in Medan City.
