    Abstract
This thesis is motivated by the involvement of the DPD Pujakesuma of Karo Regency in the 2020 regional head election (Pilkada) in Karo Regency. The study aims to describe the extent and nature of the engagement of the DPD Pujakesuma, a socio-cultural organization, in the local electoral process. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative method, which emphasizes interactive social realities and relationships. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and literature review. The findings indicate that the DPD Pujakesuma of Karo Regency actively participated in the 2020 Pilkada by endorsing the Corry-Theofilus candidate pair. This involvement was driven by shared visions and missions between the organization and the endorsed candidates, particularly in advancing the interests and development of the organization. The study supports the argument that ethnic political mobilization is often rooted in ethnic consciousness, oriented toward the pursuit of political power, territorial influence, and control over economic resources. DPD Pujakesuma’s political participation was also demonstrated through the organized collection of ID cards from members and sympathizers, which were then submitted to the Corry-Theofilus campaign team as part of a mobilization strategy. However, the process faced several challenges, including internal differences in political party affiliations among members, limited organizational human resources, and the pervasive influence of money politics.
