Acute Respiratory Infection is one of the most common causes of death in children and toddlers in developing countries. Based on the results of the Basic Health Research report, the incidence of ARI in children under five in Indonesia was 8.7 percent. ARI is in third place in the list of the 10 most common cases of disease in North Labuhanbatu Regency. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the level of maternal knowledge and pollution in the house with the incidence of ARI in toddlers at the Bandar Durian Health Center, North Labuhanbatu. This type of research is a cross sectional analytic study. The number of research samples was 122 toddlers using purposive sampling technique. Univariate data were analyzed descriptively and bivariate data were analyzed using the chi square test. The results showed that the proportion of ARI incidence was (58.20%) and the proportion of toddlers who were not affected by ARI was (41.80%). There is a relationship between maternal knowledge (p=0,039) and smoking habits in the house (p=0,001) with the incidence of ARI in toddlers. There is no relationship between the use of mosquito repellent (p=0,352) and the use of cooking fuel (p=0,217) with the incidence of URI in toddlers. Parents of toddlers are advised to avoid factors that increase the risk of ARI such as changing the use of mosquito coils, not smoking in the house, using fuel that meets the requirements for cooking, and increasing literacy related to disease prevention and routinely attending health counseling.en_US
