dc.description.abstractLeakage current is the unwanted flow of electricity outside the main circuit path, caused by insulation degradation, contamination, or ambient moisture of an electrical device. Arresters are critical components to protect electrical equipment from voltage surges. This study aims to analyze and compare the level of leakage current that occurs in porcelain and polymer-based arresters when exposed to MgCl₂ pollutants with different humidity, this research was conducted by experimental methods in the laboratory. The results show that the leakage current in polymer and porcelain arresters due to magnesium chloride pollutants increases as the humidity level increases. In polymeric arresters, the leakage current values with mild variations are in the range of 198 μA to 206.1 μA, while in porcelain arresters the values are higher, namely 258 μA to 300 μA. With moderate variations, the leakage current values in polymer arresters range from 210 μA to 226 μA, while those in porcelain arresters range from 278.6 μA to 280.4 μA. With heavy variations, the value of leakage current in polymer arresters reaches 703.2 μA, while that in porcelain arresters reaches 780 μA.en_US
