Abstract This study discusses the Aek Rangat Tarutung baths in the period 1985 to
2014. The purpose of this study is to explain the background of the existence of
Aek Rangat Tarutung, describe the development of Aek Rangat Tarutung 1985-
2014, and identify the influence of Aek Rangat Tarutung on society during that
period. This study uses a historical research method that includes data search,
literature study, namely collecting data by researching and analyzing written
sources such as books, articles, and journals, to obtain theoretical basis and
relevant information on the research topic, and field studies in the form of
interviews with parties involved in the Aek Rangat Tarutung location. The
collected data is then verified through internal and external criticism to find
objective facts. The verified facts are then interpreted and analyzed scientifically
until the final stage of historiography is carried out to compile the research results
into a writing. The research findings show that initially Aek Rangat Tarutung was
only used by the local community for bathing and daily needs, but over time Aek
Rangat Tarutung was oriented towards becoming a tourist attraction and began to
experience development from year to year in terms of facilities and development.
During the period 1985-2014 Aek Rangat Tarutung has had a major impact on the
local community and its surroundings.
