This research focuses on Jennette McCurdy’s memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died, a true story about the author’s painful experiences as a child. The purpose of this study is to explain the types of child abuse Jennette experienced and how those experiences affected her as she grew up. This research aims to raise awareness about child abuse and help readers understand how painful childhood experiences can shape a person’s future. The writer used a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the memoir. The research focused on collecting important sentences, dialogues, and events in the memoir that show the abuse Jennette went through. The result found that Jennette McCurdy experienced three types of child abuse: physical abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect. As a result of these abuses, Jennette developed many emotional and mental health problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, low self- esteem, alcohol addiction, and eating disorder.
