The Effect of Corruption, Investment, and Economic Growth on Human Development Index (Case Study of 5 Asean Countries)
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of corruption, investment, and economic growth on the Human Development Index in 5 ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines.
This research is a descriptive quantitative study using panel data for the period 1999–2023. The analytical method used is panel data regression with a Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach, and testing is conducted using EViews 12.
The results show that the corruption variable, measured by the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), has a positive and significant effect on the Human Development Index. Investment, measured by foreign direct investment (FDI), also has a positive and significant effect on the Human Development Index. In contrast, economic growth has a negative and significant effect on the Human Development Index in the five ASEAN countries
