    Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the implementation of smart economy principles in developing rural community economies, using the case of the Mushroom Farming Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) “Ladang Jamur Tiram Indonesia (Jatiramdo)” in Blok 10 Village, Dolok Masihul District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and analyzed using thematic analysis with source triangulation. The findings reveal that Jatiramdo has implemented several components of the smart economy, particularly in the use of digital technology for product marketing, production innovation, and community-based enterprise management. However, the implementation still faces several challenges, including limited digital literacy, restricted access to capital, and weak integration into broader digital ecosystems. The study also identifies that the success of smart economy adoption is strongly influenced by local social capital, institutional support, and stakeholder collaboration. The implications suggest the need for policy interventions that support sustainable digital transformation of rural MSMEs through integrated training programs, digital platform access, and the strengthening of local business networks. This research contributes conceptually to the development of a contextual and community-based smart economy model in rural development.
