    Abstract
    A will is a deed containing a person's statement about what he wants to happen after he dies, and which can be revoked by him. The problems studied are the procedure for making a will in the West Siantar and South Siantar Districts of Pematangsiantar City, the role of a notary in making and revoking a will in the West Siantar and South Siantar Districts of Pematangsiantar City, and the procedure for revoking a will made with a notarial deed in the West Siantar and South Siantar Districts of Pematangsiantar City. The research method used in this thesis is the type of empirical normative research, the nature of the research is descriptive, the research approach is a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The data used in this research is primary data with data collection techniques through interviews with Notary Making a will is a legal act that is closely related to a person's personality. A person who wants to make a will must fulfill certain requirements, especially related to legal capacity and soundness of mind. Notary is a public official who has a role to make authentic deeds related to all actions, agreements desired by the parties to be stated in the form of authentic deeds. The procedure for making a will in West Siantar and South Siantar Subdistricts is a statement of a person's last will submitted orally to a notary as a public official, then set out in the form of an authentic deed by fulfilling formal requirements such as clear identity, time of making, and the presence of witnesses. Revocation of a will is an action taken by the testator to negate or cancel the will as his last statement or last mandate.
