Strategy for Natural Tourism Potential in Buffer Village, Gunung Leuser National Park, Bukit Lawang Resort
Abstract
Ecotourism is a form of nature tourism that is managed using a conservation approach. The buffer villages around Gunung Leuser National Park have natural attractions whose level of feasibility is not yet known. This study aims to identify and assess the level of feasibility of potential tourism objects in the supporting villages of Gunung Leuser National Park, namely Timbang Lawan Village, Timbang Jaya Village and Bukit Lawang Village. Research data collection was carried out using observation methods and direct field surveys, questionnaires and interviews with managers, communities and tourists. Data analysis on the potential of natural tourism objects and attractions is described descriptively which has been processed with guidelines for the analysis of operational areas of natural tourism objects and attractions (ADO-ODTWA) of the Directorate General of Forest Protection and Conservation in 2003. The results showed that natural tourism in the research village has a feasibility level value that is feasible to develop, namely, Timbang Lawan Village 76.81%, Tambang Jaya Village 79.37% and Bukit Lawang Village 81.41%.
