The Relationship of Leadership and Work Motivation with Nurse Performance at Inpatient Room of Aek Kanopan Regional General Hospital
Abstract
Nurse performance is one of the most decisive aspects in the quality of health services in hospitals. In the era of growing health services, the demand for professional, effective, and efficient nurse performance is getting higher. Good nurse performance not only impacts patient safety and satisfaction, but also contributes greatly to the achievement of the hospital's vision and mission. Various factors can affect nurse performance, including leadership and work motivation. The Aek Kanopan Regional General Hospital (RSUD) is located in North Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra Province. The general purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of leadership and work motivation with nurse performance at inpatient room of Aek Kanopan Regional General Hospital. This study uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study is all nurses who work in the inpatient room of Aek Kanopan Hospital, with a total of 65 people. The results showed that there was a significant relationship of leadership with nurse performance (p value = 0.0001), and there was a relationship of work motivation with nurse performance (p value = 0.0001). The conclusion of this study is that leadership and work motivation are closely related to the performance of nurses in the inpatient room of Aek Kanopan Regional General Hospital. It is recommended to the hospital and the head of the room to increase the effectiveness of leadership and pay attention to factors that can motivate nurses, such as giving awards, support, and opportunities for self-development, in order to improve the quality of nursing services in hospitals.
