Future anxiety, particularly in the context of career related, is a condition that is prone to be experienced by final year students. Self-efficacy is one of the factors that may influence an individual’s level of anxiety. Thus, this study aims to examine the role of career decision self-efficacy in predicting future anxiety among final year students at the University of North Sumatra (USU). This study employed a correlational quantitative method with a total of 393 participants selected using a convenience sampling. Data were collected using a modified version of the Career Decision Self-Efficacy Scale–Short Form (CDSE-SF) and Kecemasan Masa Depan Mahasiswa Scale. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that the hypothesis was accepted (p <0.001; R = 0.498; R² = 0.248). These findings indicate that career decision self-efficacy significantly predicts future anxiety, with a higher level of career decision self-efficacy is associated with lower level of future anxiety. Career decision self-efficacy contributes to 24.8% of the variance in future anxiety, while the remaining 75.2% is influenced by other unexamined factors, this implies the importance of strengthening career decision self-efficacy as a preventive effort in reducing future anxiety in final year students.en_US
