This study aims to examine the influence between nationalism and social participation among impoverished communities in the city of Medan. The study involved 111 participants from low-income populations in Medan, selected using the Accidental Sampling technique. The results of this study, analyzed using a non-linear regression with an exponential model, showed that nationalism had a positive and significant effect on social participation (R² = 0.762; p < 0.001), with a regression coefficient of 0.051 and a beta value of 0.873. The non-linear analysis was conducted because the linearity test indicated a non-linear relationship (p = 0.006). Descriptively, the majority of respondents were found to have relatively low levels of nationalism (53.2%) and social participation (46,85%).en_US
