dc.description.abstractThis study aims to determine the effect of grit and self-efficacy on academic motivation among Batak ethnic group students. The research method used is a quantitative correlational method with a sample size of 1,172 Batak ethnic group students, employing convenience sampling. Data collection utilized the Likert scale, specifically the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) in Indonesian, consisting of 30 items; the Grit Scale in Indonesian, comprising 18 items; and the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) in Indonesian, comprising 10 items. The research data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that, simultaneously, both independent variables influenced academic motivation (F = 211.651, p<0.005) with an adjusted R-square value of 0.265, meaning that approximately 26.5% of the variance in academic motivation could be explained by this research model. The results of the stepwise regression test demonstrated that grit has a greater influence on academic motivation among Batak ethnic group students, with an effective contribution of 13.61% (p < 0.005), while self-efficacy contributes effectively at 12.95% (p < 0.005), indicating that both variables significantly influence academic motivation.en_US
