Traditional markets are key centers of economic activity and social interaction. In Indonesia, many traditional markets still face problems such as unclean environments, stagnant water, and piles of garbage that cause unpleasant odors. These conditions attract flies and may trigger health problems for vendors and visitors. The Galang Traditional Market, which is managed by the government, faces similar challenges. This study aims to analyze the environmental sanitation conditions, market management, and fly density levels at Galang Traditional Market in Deli Serdang Regency in 2025. This descriptive survey uses observation and interview methods. The objects of study include the physical environment, sanitation facilities, and market management aspects, with the research subject being the Coordinator of the Galang Traditional Market. The instruments used are observation sheets based on Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation No. 17 of 2020, interview guidelines according to Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation No. 20 of 2012, and fly grill traps to measure fly density. The results show that the market’s environmental sanitation does not meet standards, scoring only 15 points out of 57 indicators (26.32%), far below the minimum standard of 40 points or 70%. Market management is also not optimal, especially in supervision and maintenance. Fly density at the Temporary Disposal Site (TPS) is very high, averaging 27.6 flies per block grill. The fish selling area shows an average of 23.2 flies per block grill, while the meat selling area has the lowest with an average of 20.6 flies per block grill. The poor environmental sanitation and market management are reflected in the high fly density. It is recommended that managers improve and add sanitation facilities and strengthen cleanliness supervision. Vendors should maintain their areas by providing trash bins and disposing of waste properly.en_US
