Maritime transportation plays a strategic role in supporting connectivity and economic growth in Indonesia as an archipelagic country. However, the development of this sector also poses challenges to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). One of the steps taken to create a safe and healthy work environment is through the implementation of safety patrols. Safety patrols are direct inspections of the implementation of regulations and the identification and control of hazards in the workplace before they cause OSH problems. The implementation of safety patrols at PT Pelindo Multi Terminal Branch Belawan has met its monthly targets, but its implementation has not yet had a significant impact on improving workers' safe behavior. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the implementation of safety patrols and safe behavior at work at the PT Pelindo Multi Terminal Branch Belawan Port. This is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study was selected using purposive sampling, consisting of 107 operational workers and 46 safety patrol officers. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. The characteristics of operational workers include, 55 workers (51.4%) aged ≤ 31 years old, 107 workers (100%) male, and 61 workers (57%) with work experience ≤ 4 years. Characteristics of safety patrol officers include, 25 officers (52.2%) aged ≤ 36 years old, 45 officers (97.8%) male, and 25 officers (54.3%) with work experience ≤ 4 years. There were 54 workers (50.5%) and 26 officers (56.6%) who rated the implementation of safety patrols as poor, and 61 workers (57%) who were categorized as having poor safe work behavior. The analysis results showed that there was a relationship between the implementation of safety patrols and safe work behavior (p=0.005 < p=0.05). This study identified weaknesses in the implementation of safety patrols, OSH education, and training participation, necessitating improvements in the quality of safety patrols, education, and the empowerment of officers and workers in OSH programs.en_US
