Tarot cards contain a very complex symbol system. The complexity of the symbols contained on tarot cards is the reason Barthes semiotics is used to find out the deeper meaning by analyzing the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth. The purpose of this research is to find out the similarities or differences, as well as the advantages or disadvantages of the researcher's interpretation (Barthes semiotics) with the tarot practitioner's interpretation of the Tarot Nusantara major arkana card. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. In data analysis, researchers used the commensurate method and the basic technique of PU with advanced techniques of HBB, HBS, and HBSP. The results of the analysis show that there are similarities and differences between the interpretation of researchers and tarot practitioners. The advantages of the researcher's interpretation with the Barthes semiotic approach produce a complex depth of meaning, but this approach tends to be abstract and less focused on concrete actions. In contrast, tarot practitioners' interpretations are more direct and applicable, highlighting the practical nature of the cards without burdening the reader or querent with complex layers of meaning. While the researcher's interpretations provide deep insights, this can make them less communicative for individuals seeking more practical answers.
