    Abstract
    Lip balm is a cosmetic formulation with main components such as wax, fat, and oil from natural extracts or synthesized, aimed at preventing dryness on the lips by increasing lip moisture and protecting against adverse environmental effects on the lips. The purpose of designing a lip balm factory is to apply chemical engineering knowledge that includes mass balance, energy balance, equipment specifications, chemical engineering operations, utilities, and other parts of chemical engineering, as well as to meet the needs for environmentally friendly alternative fuels. The preliminary design for the factory manufacturing a Preliminary Design for Lip Balm from Palm Kernel and Carnauba Wax through a Mixing process is planned with a raw material capacity of 3.960 tons/year and will operate for 330 days a year. The factory location is planned to be in the Special Economic Zone, Sei Mangkei, North Sumatra with a land area 7.895 m2 and the required workforce is 195 people. For the establishment and operation of the factory requires investment capital of IDR2.512.729.529.499 and production costs of IDR1.973.171.429.825. Based on the feasibility analysis, this plant has a BEP of 24,99%, ROI of 21,93%, POT for 4,6 years, RON of 36,55%, and IRR of 27,33%. From the analysis of the economic aspects, it can be concluded that the Lip Balm Manufacturing Plant from Palm Kernel and Carnauba Wax through the Mixing Process is feasible to establish.
