    Abstract
    The rapid advancement of digital technology has had a major impact, especially in the insurance industry. Technological developments have allowed for challenges in terms of personal data protection, which is a right that must be protected to prevent misuse that can harm customers. Through the research and writing of this thesis, several legal questions will be raised related to the legal protection mechanisms of personal data in the insurance sector, legal remedies and protection of policyholder customers against the misuse of personal data, as well as the implementation of Law Number 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector in protecting the personal data of policyholder customers. The method used in the research and writing of this thesis is a normative legal research method. The data used consisted of primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials collected using literature study techniques and analyzed by qualitative data analysis methods. This study concludes that the protection of personal data in the insurance sector has been well regulated through Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection and Law Number 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector, which strengthens the supervisory authority by the Financial Service Authority. In addition, more efforts are needed in the form of improving cybersecurity infrastructure, stricter supervision, and education to customers. Synergy between the government, regulators, and insurance companies is essential to create a safer and more reliable ecosystem, so that it can increase customer trust in the insurance sector.
