Consumptive Behavior Of Social Media Users Tiktok Applications By Students Of The Faculty Of Social And Political Sciences, University Of North Sumatra
Abstract
Social media is a collection of online communication platforms that are
made as a means of interaction, sharing information, and collaborating with many
people, including students. Social media such as Tiktok, has several aspects of how
the Tiktok algorithm affects user consumption. One of them is the duration of
exposure to content and dopamine where the Tiktok algorithm is designed to
maintain user attention as long as possible by presenting relevant content. This
study aims to find out and analyze the consumptive behavior of Social Media Tiktok
applications by students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University
of North Sumatra, with a focus on students of Social and Political Sciences,
University of North Sumatra. This research uses a qualitative deskrptive approach.
The data collection used is observation, interview. and documentation. The object
in this study is Tiktok Content Creator students and active students of Tiktok users.
The results of this study indicate that Tiktok is an outbreak used by students to
express themselves with lifestyle and fashion content. But the trend of Virasl in
Tiktok often affects the way students present themselves, feel encouraged to follow
the pattern or standard of the content creator they follow.
