    Abstract
One factor in the success of aesthetic restoration is the surface gloss obtained from the finishing and polishing procedures. The use of polishing paste is the final stage of the polishing process. The use of blood cockle shells as an abrasive material in dentistry is currently being developed. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different concentrations of blood clam shells (Anadara granosa) as the base material for polishing paste on the surface gloss of nanohybrid composite resin restorations . Blood clam shells were first crushed, ground, then sifted to obtain particle sizes ≤10 μm, and then made into preparations of paste with concentrations of 25% and 50%. The samples used were 32 maxillary premolars which were then prepared to form cavities on the buccal side and restored using nanohybrid composite resin. The blood clam shells were first crushed, ground, and then sifted to obtain particles ≤10 μm in size, which were then made into a paste with concentrations of 25% and 50%. The samples used were 32 maxillary premolar teeth, which were then prepared to form cavities on the buccal side and restored using nanohybrid composite resin. Each sample was divided into 4 groups, namely blood clam shell polishing paste with a concentration of 25%, blood clam shell polishing paste with a concentration of 50%, commercial polishing paste, and no polishing paste. Following this, the samples underwent thermocycling and were immersed in artificial saliva for 24 hours to simulate the oral cavity, and their surface gloss was tested using a glossmeter. Statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA and Post hoc LSD (Least Significant Difference) test. The ANOVA test was used to determine the effect of polishing paste powder concentration on surface gloss (p<0.05), with the 25% concentration group producing a higher gloss value (30.65 GU) compared to the 50% concentration (18.80 GU). Subsequently, the LSD Post Hoc Test showed significant differences between groups (p<0.05). In conclusion, concentrations of 25% and 50% have an effect on the surface gloss of nanohybrid composite resin.
