Stunting is a condition of failure to achieve physical development measured by height
for age with a Z-Score value below -2 SD. Malnutrition is the main factor causing
stunting and stunted children have a high risk of disease and soft tissue disorders of the
oral cavity. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of stunting
children with oral soft tissue disorders and the prevalence of types of oral soft tissue
disorders and the prevalence of oral soft tissue disorders based on the stunting category
at Tanjung Selamat Health Center. This type of research is descriptive with a cross
sectional approach, the number of research samples is 106 children and selected by
purposive sampling method. The results showed that there were 39 stunting children
with oral cavity soft tissue abnormalities (36.8%), while 67 people (63.2%). Soft tissue
abnormalities of the oral cavity in stunting children at the Tanjung Selamat Health
Center, namely oral thrush 23 people (59.0%) namely 11 children in the short category
and 12 children in the very short category, angular cheilitis 10 people (25.6%) namely
7 short categories and 3 very short categories and 6 people (15.4%) atrophic glossitis
only in the short category. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that in
the oral cavity of stunted children, soft tissue abnormalities were found in the oral
cavity, namely oral thrush, angular cheilitis, and atrophic glossitis. Oral thrush is the
most common disorder in stunting children.
