dc.description.abstract | Transportation is the second largest source of air pollution and a major contributor
to carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, contributing to climate change. Population
growth has led to a rise in the number of household transportation vehicles, which
is adjusted to the number of family members. Therefore, an indicator is needed to
describe the amount of carbon produced by each individual, known as the carbon
footprint, as determined by the IPCC in tons of CO2. Padang Bulan Village is a
densely populated area with educational, commercial, health, and service activities.
Therefore, the potential for transportation use is high. This study aims to analyze
the carbon footprint of household-level transportation sources, as well as the
knowledge, attitudes, and actions of household heads. This study uses a descriptive
survey. The sample consisted of 95 household heads using a purposive sampling
method. Based on the study, the majority of households own motorcycles (93,68%).
The most common type of fuel used for transportation is Pertalite. (74,7%) of
households produce a low carbon footprint, ranging from 0,192 to 1,951 tons of
CO2/year. Heads of households' knowledge of reducing the carbon footprint of
transportation sources was categorized as good (51,58%), attitudes toward
reducing their carbon footprint were categorized as positive (65,26%), and only
(28,4%) of heads of households had already reduced their carbon footprint. These
results indicate that relevant agencies need to educate the public about efforts to
reduce the carbon footprint of transportation sources and develop infrastructure
that can encourage people to switch from private transportation. | en_US |
