dc.description.abstractSkin health complaints are often found in environments with high occupancy density, such as dormitories, institutions, and prisons. This can occur due to poor personal hygiene habits that can increase the risk of skin health complaints, including exchanging personal items such as clothes, towels, and toiletries with other people, using other people's beds, not bathing after activity or sweating, and not drying clothes under direct sunlight. One of the efforts to prevent skin health complaints due to poor personal hygiene is by providing health education using attractive media. Video media is one of the media in health education that is known to be effective in increasing student understanding, including regarding personal hygiene. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of providing education through video media on personal hygiene in the prevention of skin health complaints in SMA Plus Taruna Akterlis Medan students. The type of research used is quantitative research with a quasi experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research was conducted at SMA Plus Taruna Akterlis Medan. The research sample was 81 students of SMA Plus Taruna Akterlis Medan. The variables in this study were students' knowledge and attitude. Data collection tools using questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results of the research test showed differences in the mean value of knowledge, namely 11.52 at pretest, 14.99 at posttest 1, and 14.98 at posttest 2 with a value of p = 0.000 and the mean value of student attitudes, namely 49.14 at pretest, 57.23 at posttest 1, and 58.54 at posttest 2 with a value of p = 0.000. The conclusion is that there is a significant effect of education through video media on increasing knowledge and attitudes about personal hygiene in preventing skin health complaints. Based on this, it is recommended that schools utilize video media as a routine educational method in health promotion because it is proven effective in increasing students' understanding of personal hygiene.en_US
