Diabetes mellitus is characterized by elevated blood glucose levels beyond the normal range, with random blood glucose ≥ 200 mg/dl and fasting blood glucose≥ 126 mg/dl. Self-care behavior refers to the patient's efforts to maintain blood glucose within the normal range, which has a positive impact on health outcomes. This study aims to examine the effect of self-care behavior on blood glucose control levels among patients with type II diabetes mellitus. This research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using the equivalent control group approach. The study utilized power analysis with a consecutive sampling technique. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 74 individuals diagnosed with type II diabetes mellitus in the working area of the Onolalu Public Health Center, South Nias Regeney. Data analysis was conducted using an independent sample t-test and presented in the form of t-test result tables. The results showed a significant effect of self-care behavior on blood glucose control levels among patiems with type II diabetes mellitus in the Onolalu Public Health Center working area, with a significance value (Sig 2-tailed) of p=0.024 (<0.05). Thus, based on the independent sample t-test, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Hi) is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a statistically significant difference in average blood glucose levels between the intervention group and the control group. This study is expected to serve as a reference for the development of community nursing, particularly in advancing research on the impact of self-care behavior on blood glucose control in patients with type II diabetes mellitus.en_US
