The research aims to analyze the class conflict portrayed in the main character in
the series Maxton Hall (2024) by using Karl Marx's theory of class conflict and
Janet Burroway's character theory. The background of this research is based on the
social phenomena displayed in the series, especially the inequality that occurs
between the rich elite group and the lower group shown through social interactions
in the elite school environment, namely Maxton Hall. The method used is
descriptive qualitative with data analysis techniques in the form of scenes and
dialogue that describe class conflict and character building. The results of this study
show that there are five (5) main forms of class conflict, namely social class, class
consciousness, base and superstructure, ideology (hegemony) and class struggle
which are reflected through the main characters such as Ruby Bell, James Beaufort
and Mortimer Beaufort. In addition, character analysis based on Janet Burroway's
theory illustrates that the characters of this series can be analyzed and developed
through its five (5) main elements, namely appearance, dialogue, action, thought
and interpretation by other characters. The conclusion of this research is that the
Maxton Hall series does not only feature a teen romance story, but can also contain
social criticism of class injustice that occurs in modern society.
