This study analyzes how online media frame the General Election Commission of Indonesia (KPU RI) in news coverage by kompas.com and republika.co.id, particularly in relation to the KPU’s efforts to prevent the recurrence of the 2019 incident where 894 members of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) died during the general election. These framing practices have contributed to shaping a particular public image of the KPU RI. This textual research was conducted qualitatively using Robert N. Entman's framing analysis model on news reports published by kompas.com and republika.co.id concerning the preventive measures taken by the KPU RI. The findings reveal that KPU RI is portrayed as an institution that had previously made unintentional mistakes during the 2019 election, but is willing to accept input from various stakeholders to improve its systems and regulations in order to avoid repeating the same errors in the 2024 General Election and Simultaneous Regional Elections. Both online media outlets did not exhibit explicit bias toward KPU RI in their coverage.
