This study aimed to analyze the association between the triglyceride-high-density lipoprotein (TG-HDL) ratio and the urinary albumin to creatinine ratio (UACR) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study was conducted using a cross-sectional design, involving type 2 diabetes mellitus patients undergoing laboratory examinations at H. Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan. Data were collected through laboratory assessments of TG, HDL, and UACR levels, as well as clinical characteristics of the subjects. The results showed a high prevalence of dyslipidemia and albuminuria among type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Statistical analysis revealed a significant association between an elevated TG-HDL ratio and increased UACR, indicating a higher risk of kidney damage. These findings highlight that the TG-HDL ratio can serve as a simple indicator for early detection of diabetic nephropathy risk in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, thus aiding in the prevention of chronic kidney disease progression. The study recommends routine monitoring of TG-HDL ratio and UACR in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients as part of clinical evaluation to prevent further renal complications.en_US
