Cement is one of the most important strategic commodity raw materials in modern
human development. Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) is a very popular type of
cement and is often used in various concrete construction projects. OPC cement is
known for its strength and reliability. The Preliminary Design of an Ordinary
Portland Cement (OPC) Plant Using Copper Slag as a Substitute for Iron Sand
with a Dry Process, with a capacity of 930,000 tons/year and 300 working days
per year, aims to apply chemical engineering knowledge including mass balance,
energy balance, equipment specifications, chemical engineering operations,
utilities, and other aspects of chemical engineering. The plant is planned to be
located in Jembayan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan
Province, with a total area of 18,221 m². The business entity is in the form of a
Limited Liability Company (PT) with 160 employees. The results of the economic
analysis of the Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) plant show a profit margin (PM)
of 41.24%, a break-even point (BEP) of 46.73%, a return on investment (ROI) of
32%, a pay out time (POT) of 3.14 years, a return on network (RON) of 53.12%,
and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 24.30%. Based on the results of the
economic aspect analysis, it can be concluded that the establishment of this
Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) plant is feasible.
