Representasi Perpustakaan dan Pustakawan dalam Serial Animasi Ascendance of a Bookworm

Abstract

This research aims to understand the representation of library and librarian contained in the animation series Ascendance of a Bookworm. This research used a qualitative method. Data collection was conducted through documentation study. The results of this research were: 1) The library in the animation series Ascendance of a Bookworm was a special library. Because this library was under the auspices of an institution, namely the cathedral, this library could only be accessed by priests and nuns. The library collection consisted of scriptures and archives in the form of paper scrolls and wooden boards. This library successfully carried out the recreational function, where the library provided an atmosphere of calmness and peace for its users. The collection of library materials was arranged and managed using the DDC classification system. 2) The librarian in the animation series Ascendance of a Bookworm was depicted as a young individual with a neat appearance. The librarian was shown performing the role of a good educator because during teaching, the librarian always used creative methods to make it easy to understand, and was always open to suggestions and criticisms. In addition, the librarian was also shown to have the ability to manage information. In information management, the librarian was shown when applying and explaining the DDC classification. The representation of the library and librarian in the animation series Ascendance of a Bookworm in general gives a good impression. However, there is one drawback, such as the less ideal room temperature of the library.
