Factors Related to Low Back Pain Complaints in Workers in Small Industry Center Medan City
Abstract
Low back pain is pain felt in the lower back to the buttock crease that can radiate
to the legs. Low back pain is one of the most common occupational diseases,
especially in tailors and particularly workers at the Small Industry Centre in Medan
City. The workers sew with a static posture for a long time every day. This study
aims to analyse the relationship between age, length of service, work posture, and
length of work with low back pain complaints in workers at the Small Industry
Centre of Medan City. This type of research uses a cross-sectional approach. This
type of research uses a cross-sectional approach. This study used a total sampling
technique involving all workers at the Small Industry Centre of Medan City as many
as 35 people as samples. The data collection method used the Nordic body map
questionnaire and REBA observation sheet. Data were analysed using the
Spearman Correlation test. The results showed no significant relationship between
age and low back pain complaints (p-value = 0.289), but there was a significant
relationship between working period and low back pain complaints (p-value =
0.024), there was a significant relationship between work posture and low back
pain complaints (p-value = 0.046), and there was a significant relationship between
work duration and low back pain complaints (p-value = 0.023). It is recommended
for workers to pay attention to work postures during work, stretching regularly,
and take regular breaks.
