Peran Pola Asuh terhadap Nasionalisme Remaja dari Keluarga Miskin di Kota Medan
Abstract
This study aims to examine the influence of parenting styles on nationalism
among adolescents from poor families in Medan City using a quantitative
approach with multiple linear regression analysis. The study involved 102
participants, adolescents from poor families in Medan City, with incomes below
the poverty line (Rp695,295/capita/month), selected using an accidental sampling
technique. The Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) and the
Nationalism Scale were used as measurement tools. The results showed that
democratic parenting had a significant positive effect (p<0.001) with a
contribution of 22.9%. Meanwhile, permissive (p=0.560) and authoritarian
(p=0.073) parenting styles did not play a significant role. Nationalism among
adolescents from poor families in Medan City tended to be high (54.9%), although
the implementation of democratic parenting tended to be low (44.1%). The results
suggest that strengthening democratic parenting styles can be a strategy for
fostering more ideal nationalism, especially among adolescents from poor families
in Medan City.
