This study aims to examine the influence of parenting styles on nationalism among adolescents from poor families in Medan City using a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis. The study involved 102 participants, adolescents from poor families in Medan City, with incomes below the poverty line (Rp695,295/capita/month), selected using an accidental sampling technique. The Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) and the Nationalism Scale were used as measurement tools. The results showed that democratic parenting had a significant positive effect (p<0.001) with a contribution of 22.9%. Meanwhile, permissive (p=0.560) and authoritarian (p=0.073) parenting styles did not play a significant role. Nationalism among adolescents from poor families in Medan City tended to be high (54.9%), although the implementation of democratic parenting tended to be low (44.1%). The results suggest that strengthening democratic parenting styles can be a strategy for fostering more ideal nationalism, especially among adolescents from poor families in Medan City.en_US
