Economic Assessment of Mangrove Forests in Tapak Kuda Village, Tanjung Pura Subdistrict, Langkat Regency
Abstract
Tapak Kuda Village is one of the villages in Tanjung Pura Subdistrict, Langkat Regency and is precisely located on the coastal waters of the Malacca Strait whose area is 6.4 km² with a ratio of the area to the area is 3.86 km². People only value mangrove ecosystems in economic terms, without considering the physical and biological benefits that are caused. Economic valuation is a method used to provide quantitative value to goods and services produced by natural resources and the environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the direct benefits, indirect benefits, the value of choice, the value of existence and the value of inheritance and the total economic value of the mangrove ecosystem in Tapak Kuda Village, Tanjung Pura District, Langkat Regency. This research was conducted using purposive sampling technique. In this study used quantitative descriptive method, by conducting direct interviews and filling out interview questionnaires (quisoner) by respondents. Respondents in this study amounted to 86 people. The results prove that mangrove forests in Tapak Kuda Village have significant value. This total economic value reached Rp.8.923.170.800 /year. The largest contribution comes from the value of direct benefits, which is IDR 4,726,800,000/year. The value of indirect benefits also contributed with a large value of Rp.2,686,344,800/year, the value of choice contributed Rp.1,034,271,000/year. The existence value is worth Rp.3,075,000/year and the inheritance value is worth Rp.472,680,000/year.
