Rancang Bangun Alat Pengering Biji-bijian dengan Sistem Aliran Bertingkat (Multilevel Flow)
Design of Grain Dryer with Multilevel Flow System
Abstract
Grain is an important commodity in agriculture that requires proper post- harvest handling, especially in the drying process. Grain drying aims to reduce the moisture content to a level that is safe for storage and further processing. This research aims to design, build, and test a grain dryer with a multilevel flow system. This tool is designed to dry grains, especially rice, using a heat source from a heater and a conveyor system to flow the material. The test was conducted at 50°C with variations in drying time of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes. The results showed that the longer the drying time, the lower the remaining moisture content in the material. Rice moisture content can be reduced to the desired standard of 13- 14%. This tool also has an average working capacity of 3,88 kg/hour. With a multilevel flow system, this tool is able to distribute heat evenly and increase drying efficiency. This research is expected to be a solution for farmers in overcoming grain drying problems, especially during the rainy season.
