Efektivitas Musik Klasik terhadap Stres Guru SLB di Medan (Studi Musik Klasik Beethoven)
Effectiveness of Classical Music on Stress Among SLB Teachers in Medan (A Study of Beethoven’s Classical Music)
Abstract
Special Needs School (SLB) teachers in Medan often experience work-related stress due to the demands of teaching students with complex and diverse needs and characteristics. Unmanaged stress can negatively affect teaching quality and the psychological well-being of teachers. Classical music, especially Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, is known to have a relaxing effect that can potentially reduce stress levels. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Beethoven’s classical music in lowering work-related stress among SLB teachers. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a within-subject pretest-posttest design, involving 12 female teachers as participants. The intervention consisted of listening to Moonlight Sonata for 20–30 minutes over a period of two weeks, and stress levels were measured using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10). Results from the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed a significant reduction in stress (p < 0.002), indicating that Beethoven’s classical music is effective as a simple intervention to reduce work-related stress among SLB teachers.
