dc.description.abstract | Pleural effusion is a pathological condition in which there is an abnormal
accumulation of fluid in the pleural cavity that surrounds the lungs. This condition
can cause respiratory problems, chest pain, and reduce the patient's quality of life.
Chest pain, shortness of breath, and coughing experienced by patients can cause
sleep pattern disorders that can lead to other health problems. In addition to
pharmacological management, one of the non-pharmacological treatments that
can be implemented is music therapy. Music therapy can create a sense of security
and well-being in individuals by providing a calming effect, making it easier to
fall asleep and improving mood. This study was conducted using a case study
method with a nursing process approach that includes assessment, data analysis,
nursing planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nursing diagnoses that
appeared in Mr. E according to the data analysis were 3, namely: impaired gas
exchange, acute pain, and disturbed sleep patterns. The evaluation criteria for the
respiratory monitoring intervention were decreased dyspnea and improved
breathing patterns. The evaluation criteria for the pain management intervention
obtained reports of pain reduced to a scale of 2 and the patient showed relaxed
facial and body expressions. Furthermore, the evaluation criteria for the sleep
support intervention through the provision of music therapy obtained that Mr. E's
complaint of difficulty sleeping. E decreased, the patient did not appear sleepy
during the day, and slept around 5-7 hours. | en_US |
