Management of Nursing Services and Care for Clients with Acute Pain Through the Applications of Slow Deep Breathing Technique in Hypertensive Patients in Environment IX, Padang Bulan Subdistrict, Medan Baru District
Abstract
Hypertension is defined as an increase in systolic blood pressure of 140 mmHg or more and a diastolic blood pressure of 90 mmHg or more. It is widely known as "The Silent Killer" and is a common cause of increased morbidity and premature death. Slow Deep Breathing, or slow and deep breathing exercises, can help reduce pain in hypertensive patients. It is an essential component of various techniques used as non-pharmacological adjuncts for multiple medical conditions, including acute pain. Acute pain management was carried out over four days for three patients: Mrs. M, Mrs. S, and Mrs. S. Data collection was conducted using nursing methodologies including assessment, data analysis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The nursing intervention provided included teaching and applying the Slow Deep Breathing technique. The results showed that all three clients were able to understand and successfully practice the technique to manage their pain. The outcomes of the interventions indicated that the problems were resolved. It is recommended that healthcare services implement health education programs focusing on the use of the Slow Deep Breathing technique to manage pain in hypertensive patients and promote education about the prevention and management of hypertension in the community.
