Productivity and Skidding Cost of Timber at PT. Toba Pulp Lestari, Tbk. Aek Nauli Sector
Abstract
High productivity during the skidding stage can reduce production costs in timber
harvesting activities, thereby increasing and optimizing the utilization of timber
forest products. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach, with
direct recording of the skidded timber volume, skidding distance, and skidding work
time. Data analysis used multiple linear regression to determine the influence of
two independent variables volume and skidding distance on skidding productivity.
The results showed that both skidding volume and distance had a significant effect
on productivity, with an R² value of 0.889, indicating that 88.9 % of the variation
in productivity could be explained by these two variables. The highest skidding cost
was recorded at IDR 17.540/m³ in compartment D083 plot 2, while the lowest cost
was IDR 12.693/m³ in compartment D136 plot 1. Therefore, increasing productivity
through the optimization of skidding volume and management of skidding distance
can reduce skidding costs.
