dc.description.abstract | Background: The puguntano plant (Picria fel-terrae Lour.) is a plant with bioactive potential. Its bioactive compounds function as self-defense and are also beneficial to human life, including as a source of antioxidants and as a medicinal ingredient.
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the secondary metabolite compounds and antioxidant activity of ethanol, n-butanol, and chloroform extracts of puguntano leaves (Picria fel-terrae Lour.).
Method: The research was conducted descriptive, including sample preparation, preparation of puguntano leaf extract, characterization of simplicia, phytochemical screening of simlicia and extract and determination of antioxidant activity of ethanol, n-butanol, and choloroform extracts of puguntano leaves using the DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryhydrazil), then measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometry.
Results: The antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract gave an IC50 value of 15.0648 μg/mL with a very strong antioxidant category, the n-butanol extract gave an IC50 volue of 10.3149 μg/mL wiht a very strong antioxidant category, and the chloroform extract gave an IC50 volue of 282.1155 μg/mL with a weak antioxidant categoty.
Conclusion: The results of the study indicate tha there are differences in the level of antioxidant activity of ethanol, n-butanol, and chloroform extracts from puguntano leaves (Picria fel-terrae Lour.). | en_US |
