This study aims to identify the morphological character of the toba banana
(Musa paradisiaca L.) in Sipangan Bolon village, Girsang Sipangan Bolon District,
Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. This research was conducted from January
2025 to February 2025 using a descriptive survey method based on the IPGRI
(International Plant Genetic Resources) banana descriptor guidebook with
purposive sampling techniques. The results of the study showed that in Sipangan
Bolon Village, 10 genotypes of generative toba bananas and 10 genotypes of
vegetative toba bananas, were found. The results of the morphological
characteristics of the toba banana plant found are the pseudo-stem color (RedPurple, Yellow-Red, Green-Pink), Leaf surface color (Dark Green, Green, Greenyellow), Heart shape (Oval egg and Knife-like), Color of the outer surface of the
braktea (Red-Purple), Color of the skin of the unripe fruit (Dark Green and Green),
Color of the skin of the ripe fruit (Yellow), Color of the flesh (beige). The closest
kinship relationship of generative bananas or the lowest dissimilarity value in the
SBG2 and SBG10 samples was 4,219 and the closest kinship relationship of
generative bananas or the highest dissimilarity value in the SBG1 and SBG3
samples was 22,334. The closest kinship relationship of vegetative bananas or the
lowest dissimilarity value in the SBV4 and SBV10 samples was 1.006 and the
closest kinship relationship of vegetative bananas or the highest dissimilarity value
in the SBV1 and SBV4 samples was 11,362
