dc.description.abstract | Cesarean section (CS) is an increasingly chosen surgical procedure for childbirth, both for medical and non-medical indications. However, this procedure causes the disruption of tissue in the abdominal wall, triggering the release of pain receptors, especially after the effects of anesthesia wear off. Post-operative pain in SC patients can negatively impact the recovery process, including mobility disturbances, respiratory issues, and an increased risk of chronic pain. According to Riskesdas 2018 data, the rate of C-sections in Indonesia has reached 17.6%, exceeding the WHO recommendation of around 10 – 15%. At Prof. dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis Hospital, 45 patients underwent the C-section procedure, and many patients complained of pain after the procedure. Therefore, effective and safe pain management is necessary. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that has proven effective is Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS). TENS works based on the "Gate Control" theory by inhibiting pain impulses and stimulating the release of endorphins as the body's natural analgesics. With its minimal side effects, TENS becomes a potential nursing intervention in the holistic management of post-SC pain. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of TENS therapy in pain nursing care for post-cesarean section patients. | en_US |
