Fulfillment of Early Mobilization Needs in Nursing Care for Post-Cesarean Mothers
Abstract
Early mobilization is one of the basic needs that must be fulfilled for mothers after cesarean section, and it should be implemented by nurses in the Maternity Ward of Prof. Dr. Chairuddin Panurunan Lubis Teaching Hospital, Universitas Sumatera Utara. This study aims to provide an in-depth description of the fulfillment of early mobilization needs in nursing care for post-cesarean mothers. The method used is a case study with a nursing process approach consisting of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Early mobilization for the mother was carried out in a structured and gradual manner, including deep breathing exercises, effective coughing, limb movements, position changes, sitting, standing, and light walking. The stages of early mobilization were adjusted based on the time elapsed since surgery. Repeated education was also provided to both the mother and her family. In addition, recovery status and potential postoperative complications were monitored. As a result, the mother and family demonstrated proper understanding of the benefits and stages of early mobilization. Furthermore, the mother was able to perform the mobilization stages according to standard operating procedures, experienced no postoperative complications, and by the third day post-surgery, she was able to walk independently to the bathroom and within the room with minimal discomfort. The conclusion of this case study is that the structured and gradual fulfillment of early mobilization needs, supported by effective education, plays a key role in promoting recovery and preventing postoperative complications after cesarean section.
