| dc.description.abstract | Ineffective peripheral perfusion is a common complication in clients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM), resulting from elevated blood glucose levels (>200 mg/dL or hyperglycemia), which impair blood flow to the lower extremities. This condition is characterized by a decreased Ankle Brachial Index (ABI), as well as tingling and numbness in the legs. This study aimed to manage nursing care and services for clients with ineffective peripheral perfusion through the application of Buerger Allen Exercise in Batu Sundung Village. The method employed a pretest-process-posttest design conducted over six days (June 9-14, 2025) on a single client selected through purposive sampling. Inclusion criteria included: type 2 DM, no diabetic wounds, and ABI value <0.9. The subject was a 54-year-old male, high school graduate, working as a farmer, and diagnosed with type 2 DM for seven years. Buerger Allen Exercise was performed 12 times over six days, with each session lasting 12 minutes. ABI was measured each morning and dietary regulation was also applied. The results showed an improvement in peripheral perfusion as indicated by an increase in ABI values from 0.69 (left) and 0.84 (right) to 1.0 and 1.1, respectively. Fasting blood glucose levels also decreased from 207 mg/dL to 121 mg/dL without the use of hypoglycemic drugs. Additionally, the client reported a reduction in symptoms of tingling and numbness. The study concludes that Buerger Allen Exercise can enhance peripheral perfusion and, when combined with dietary control, can effectively reduce blood glucose levels. This exercise is recommended to be implemented routinely by nurses, accompanied by proper education and consistent dietary management by clients with type 2 DM. | en_US |
